We shall show them our signs in the universe and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is the witness of all things? (Qur’an 41:53)

Stories Of The Prophets-02: Creation Of Aadam (as) - Mufti Ismail Menk
There’s a huge, somewhat disastrous, misconception going around that Adam and Eve descended on earth as a punishment. Some people do believe that the reason why mankind does not dwell in Paradise is that Adam was disobedient and that if it had not been for this sin, we could have been there all along.
These are naive fictions because Allah swt mentioned our creation and our role on earth to the angels way before Adam was created. Allah swt says in the Quran: وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنِّي جَاعِلٌ فِي الأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةً
Translation: “I shall make a vicegerent on the earth.” Notice how He did not say, “I shall make a vicegerent in Paradise.”
We are Allah’s vicegerent on earth. We’re here on a mission and insha’Allah one day we shall all return to our original home, Jannah.
The moral of the story is that we should all take shield from satan, and know for sure that he will stand between us and our mission on earth. Adam and Eve’s sin was meant to teach them and their progeny that it was Satan who had caused them to be expelled from Paradise and that the road to Paradise can only be reached by obedience to Allah and enmity to Satan.

Don’t ask Allah according to your status, ask from Allah according to His Might and Power
